Hunker-based Bella Terra Vineyards to host grand opening celebration in May

Bella Terra Vineyards is opening a new facility, and to celebrate they have an entire weekend filled with events.

Running from May 3-5, the Hunker business is inviting guests to check out their new tasting room, winery and event space, according to a Facebook event.

“The new building will be a larger tasting room and outdoor patio, new winery for more wine production, a brand new event space, more bathrooms and a bridal suite for brides to get ready on their big day,” owner Joanna Bell said in an email.

Bell and her husband, Jay, announced the new facility in October, almost two years after the winery opened. Located at 121 Sunny Lane, the 17 acres houses a 3-acre vineyard and lake and hosts live music every weekend from May through October.

Garage doors on the side of the new tasting room will open up to a covered patio for additional seating, and a bigger winery will give the couple a chance to try some new wine techniques.

With the new space, a larger crowd can be accommodated and live entertainment is planned for every Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with the occasional performance on Saturday, Joanna Bell said.

From 6 to 9 p.m. May 3, the Brothers Kelly will perform, with food available from the Elegant Catering Food Truck and The Brownstone Oven. On May 4, Jane and Mandy of Detention will be on stage from 1 to 5 p.m., and food will be available from the Hoshi Pgh food truck. Crafts from the Mom Made Market will also be available for purchase.

On the final day, May 5, Right Turn Clyde, an acoustic rock trio, will perform from 1 to 5 p.m., with food from the Vagabond Taco Truck.
