Dressed as an elf, second-grade teacher Billie Jo Crouse offers a hearty hello to motorists attending the drive-through Light-Up Night display on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at Amos K. Hutchinson Elementary School in Southwest Greensburg.

More than 250 vehicles lined up Thursday evening for a spin around Amos K. Hutchinson Elementary during the school’s second annual Light-Up Night.

In addition to festive lights and inflatable figures, visitors to the Southwest Greensburg school were greeted by holiday characters, Christmas music performed by school and community groups and Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The drive-thru event also provided an opportunity for residents to support programs at Hutchinson through donations that were accepted at the event’s entrance.

This year’s contributions will benefit activities for the school’s PTA and Club Crossroads.

Sponsored by Charter Oak Church, Club Crossroads is held Tuesday evenings during the school year at the elementary building. Featuring a family-style dinner and games, it’s meant to provide an environment where students can build healthy relationships.

Club Crossroads volunteers also provide other assistance at Hutchinson, including school supplies, clothing, Christmas gifts and staff treats.
