Hempfield school district to share results of feasibility study
Hempfield Area community members will have the opportunity to hear recommendations from a yearlong study that examined the feasibility of several possible projects throughout the school district.
The study, which first was approved by school board members in December 2020, looked into the district’s physical, educational and functional needs. In addition, it attempted to determine if the high school could be renovated or remodeled based on the number and type of projects that might come up at other buildings over the next several years.
Results from the study will be presented to community members next week in the high school auditorium, Superintendent Tammy Wolicki said.
“We have asked both SitelogIQ and Core Architects, who completed the study, to provide a public presentation of their analysis of all of our school facilities and their recommendations or outcomes,” Wolicki said. “No decisions have been made, of course. Those decisions will be made at a future time. It is merely to provide that information to our community.”
During the study, officials assessed each building’s electrical, mechanical, plumbing, security and physical conditions. Officials also used information from a 2019 demographic study that projected district enrollments through 2028, including the capacity of each school and current and projected enrollment.
Those factors were taken into consideration for the study, which includes recommendations and possibilities for upgrading buildings and systems.
The town hall meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
For those unable to attend, a recording will be posted to the district’s website, hasdpa.net, under district and construction/renovation projects.
Board members are expected to vote on whether to accept the feasibility study as complete during a Jan. 24 board meeting.
