Hanna’s Town to host fifth Antiques & Collectibles market in 50th season
Historic Hanna’s Town will host its fifth Antiques & Collectibles market of the season this weekend, continuing its 50th year of the tradition.
The market, which started in 1974, will feature more than 100 vendors offering a variety of vintage items, ranging from $1 to hundreds of dollars in cost.
“People collect all sorts of stuff,” said Lisa Hays, executive director of the Westmoreland Historical Society. “People collect signs, so we’ll have signs, vintage toys, vintage tools, glassware, furniture.
“You can find almost anything there,” she said. “You just never know what’s going to come. That’s part of the fun.”
The market will run from 7:30 a.m. through early afternoon Sunday at 809 Forbes Trail Road in Hempfield.
Onsite parking is $3. Parking revenue will be split between the Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department Station 2 and the Westmoreland County Historical Society, which manages Hanna’s Town.
Antique collectors interested in hosting a station at the event can show up anytime between 11 a.m. Saturday and the start of the market on Sunday. The vendor fee is $40. For additional information, call 724-836-1800 x 200.
The vendor fee benefits the Westmoreland County Historical Society’s education and preservation projects at Hanna’s Town.
“(The market) has put Hanna’s Town on the map in many ways. We want people to know about the history of Hanna’s Town, of course, but some people know us through this market,” Hays said. “It’s been key in helping us reconstruct the village.”
The sixth and final event of the season will take place Oct. 8.
