A state trooper working out of the Greensburg station has been suspended without pay after he was arrested for allegedly threatening his wife with a handgun at their Plum home.

Scott Mang, 32, broke down two doors in the house and threatened to kill his wife and himself with her handgun, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Mang and his wife were watching a football game and drinking alcohol at their Douglas Fir Drive house before the argument. Later in the evening, Scott Mang broke down the door while Danielle Mang was in the bathroom, the complaint states.

Danielle Mang then locked herself in the couple’s bedroom and threatened to call 911. Scott Mang soon broke down that door and took the phone from his wife, according to the complaint.

The trooper then took his wife’s Glock-19 from the night stand and threatened to kill both of them if she called.

He then pointed the gun at her and then at himself, according to the complaint. Danielle Mang ran across the street and called 911, the complaint said.

Scott Mang was detained and arrested without incident. While in custody, Scott Mang said he knew police were coming and everything was over and he wanted to kill himself, the complaint noted.

Officers wrote in the complaint the bedroom and bathroom doors were off the hinges.

Scott Mang most recently worked for Troop A in Greensburg, a PSP spokesman said.

Mang is scheduled to appear before Plum District Judge Linda Zucco for a preliminary hearing Jan. 30.

The trooper is being held at Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh.
