Greensburg Salem’s 2,700 students will return to hybrid instruction on Jan. 19 instead of Jan. 26th, as previously announced, provided the number of positive covid cases among students and staff in each building meet state guidelines.
The school district said all covid prevention and mitigation measures such as cleaning procedures, social distancing and the wearing of masks will be in place while students and staff are in the buildings.
In mid-November, Greensburg Salem closed all schools and reverted to virtual instruction until Nov. 30 because of the number of covid cases
P-T middle school teams shutdown
Penn-Trafford shut down the middle school basketball and wrestling teams until Jan. 19 because there are two positive covid cases, one in each sport, the district said Monday.
Students on both teams were exposed over the weekend and will be under quarantine, which requires the teams to stop play during the quarantine period. Neither of the students who tested positive for coronavirus were in the schools Monday, Superintendent Matthew Harris said.
Harris reminded students and staff to administer the Penn-Trafford School District Symptom Screening Tool every day. Those who are symptomatic or may have been in close contact with a positive covid case, need to stay home and contact the school nurse.
