Greensburg Salem band parents donate trailer to district
The Greensburg Salem High School Marching Band will transport its gear in safety and style next school year thanks to a new trailer purchased by the band parents association.
Until now, the band needed to rent a U-Haul or other truck every time it traveled with its equipment.
That was less than ideal, according to Brian Conway, president of the Greensburg Salem Band Parents Association.
“(The truck) is hard to load with the instruments, and to keep the instruments safe, because it’s just an empty box,” he said.
The band parents held fundraisers and raised the $15,000 for a new trailer, which will be branded with the Greensburg Salem logo.
It will have shelves for the instruments, Conway said.
“It’s going to help keep the equipment safe, and help keep the kids safe as they’re loading and unloading the vehicle,” he said.
The association donated the trailer to the district. It is expected to be ready to use by the start of the 2019-20 school year.
