The Greensburg Salem School Board has approved a slate of improvement projects at its middle school and Amos K. Hutchinson Elementary at a cost of just over $500,000.

A new handicap-accessible entrance to the administrative offices at the middle school will cost $57,000. The contract was awarded to Vince Building Co. A new cooler and freezer at the middle school will cost almost $274,000, with Arcon Contracting handling the general construction and Merit Electrical Group handling the electrical work.

A new fire alarm system at Hutchinson will cost $173,0000.

The school board is working on the 2019-20 budget. It may consider borrowing money to bolster its capital reserve fund, according to business manager James Meyer. About $186,000 will be left in the account after the planned work.
