Greensburg police are looking for the owner of a dog that was found Sunday night chained to a fence or railing at Rohrer Street and Westminster Avenue.

The canine was found just after 9 p.m. and no neighbors recognized it, said Police Chief Charles Irvin. It was abandoned sometime during the evening as neighbors reported it was not there around 5 p.m. It did not have a microchip or any other owner information.

The intersection is about a block off West Pittsburgh Street and not far from Pershing Square.

The animal has been turned over to Hoffman’s Kennels, Irvin said. Anyone with information on the dog’s ownership can call Greensburg police at 724-834-3800.
