Greensburg pavilion rentals open Feb. 1
Pavilion rental season has returned in Greensburg. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis starting Feb. 1.
The city saw its income from pavilion rentals dip a bit in 2020 due to the pandemic, but many renters chose to hold their events anyway, particularly in late summer when case counts were relatively low, according to recreation program Manager Lydia Kinkaid.
“A lot of people just rescheduled their event from earlier in the summer to later in the summer,” she said.
The city made $8,875 in pavilion rental fees last year, compared to $11,250 in 2019.
In 2020 the city offered full refunds for all cancellations because of the pandemic, a practice that will continue in 2021, Kinkaid said. Previously, money was only refunded if the reservation was canceled at least a month in advance.
The rental process will work a little differently this year for the Robert A. Bell and Heather Lund Pavilion at Mt. Odin Park. These must be rented at the Mt. Odin Pro Shop, rather than at the Kirk S. Nevin arena as in previous years.
The Kallaugher and Kaufman pavilions at Lynch Field can be reserved at the arena as usual.
It makes more sense for the city to handle Mt. Odin’s pavilion rentals at Mt. Odin, Kinkaid said.
“It’s just to streamline the process, instead of us having to add another step to communicate who is using the pavilions,” she said.
The Megan Smith Pavilion, Mt. Odin’s third, will not be available until May.
The cost for Mt. Odin pavilions is $175 for residents and $200 for non-residents. Lynch Field pavilions cost $100 for residents and $125 for non-residents.
Anyone living in the Greensburg Salem School District is considered a resident.
