Incumbent Robert L. “Robb” Bell won a two-way race Tuesday for the Democratic nomination for mayor of Greensburg, receiving about 60% of the vote with all 15 precincts reporting.

Challenger Jerry Vernail captured 38% of the vote. About 1% of the Democratic votes cast were write-ins, according to the unofficial results.

On the Republican ticket, Gerome Domenic Spino was the top candidate for the nomination over Jonathan O’Brien, with nearly 55 % of the votes to about 30%.

Republican write-ins represented about 15% of the vote.

Bell, 66, is seeking his third term as mayor. He previously served on the city planning commission and the parking authority. He works in private industry as a national project manager.

Spino, 52, a former family therapist and health care administrator, is the program director of Dr. Spino Kids, a nonprofit that has a mission of “bringing mindfulness and mentoring to a vulnerable population,” according to Spino. The organization is named for the candidate’s late father, a longtime Greensburg physician.
