Visitors to Friday’s opening of the 60th annual Fort Ligonier Days celebration in downtown Ligonier were greeted by 18th century reenactors, live music, an array of festival fare and crafters from 15 states.

The event, which continues through Sunday, marks the anniversary of a 1758 battle that saw the British troops at Fort Ligonier hold off an assault by foes during the French and Indian War.

Saturday’s schedule includes a parade along Main Street, beginning at 11 a.m., and a 6:30 p.m. concert by Jay and the Americans, followed by a fireworks display.

Slated on Sunday are a 5K run/walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Ligonier Valley High School, a concert by the Pittsburgh Brass Project at 3 p.m, and Calvary United Methodist Church’s carillon concert, closing the weekend at 5:30 p.m.

The reconstructed Fort Ligonier will be open for tours and a living history encampment 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday and will provide the setting for artillery demonstrations and reenactments of the 1758 battle — at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 1 and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
