Former Unity man accused of drug distribution facing new charges
A man who was slated to appear in Westmoreland County court next week for allegedly distributing marijuana and THC wax in Latrobe and South Greensburg was arrested again this week in Unity with about $10,000 worth of the powerful cannabis extract.
Jeffrey H. Yuhas, 21, now of Clairton but formerly of Unity, was pulled over by state police Tuesday on Route 981 near Arnold Palmer Regional Airport for allegedly driving erratically with an expired inspection and registration. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession and distribution of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol and multiple traffic violations after, police say, they confiscated more than a pound of THC wax known as “shatter” from his car.
Trooper Brandon Clark reported that Yuhas appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, admitting to Clark he had smoked marijuana four hours earlier. Clark said Yuhas failed a field sobriety test.
According to court dockets, Yuhas is free on $50,000 bond in the prior cases from earlier this year. In those, he is charged with distributing marijuana and THC in Latrobe and South Greensburg, where police there seized $3,885 and marijuana he was allegedly carrying.
Yuhas was scheduled to appear Wednesday before Judge Tim Krieger in plea court on the previous possession and distribution complaints.
Yuhas could not be reached. His private attorney, Paul Toohey of Mt. Pleasant, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
According to court documents, Yuhas was released on $20,000 unsecured bond on the latest case.
