Retired Marine Corps Col. Nancy Anderson, who wrote a book on Marine Corps women, will be the keynote speaker at a noon luncheon on Saturday at Seton Hill University in Greensburg to honor Seton Hill alumni, students, faculty and staff who are veterans or active duty military, along with their families.

Anderson is the author of “The Very Few, The Proud Women in the Marine Corps, 1977-2001,” which examines both the expanding opportunities for women in the Marine Corps and the fading cultural gender distinctions in the last quarter of the 20th century. In 1977, Anderson became the first female platoon commander when the Marine Corps’ Officer Candidates School at Quantico was gender-integrated.

The luncheon at noon Saturday in the Administration Building’s Greensburg Room is being hosted by the Seton Hill University Alumni Association and the SHU Student Patriots Club.
