Family scavenger hunt, fishing program offered at Twin Lakes Park
Two all-ages activities this weekend will kick off summer environmental programs at Westmoreland County Parks.
A free Family Night Scavenger Walk is set for 8:30 to 10:30 p.m Friday at Twin Lakes Park. Space is limited for the walk, which will challenge participants to look and listen for wildlife. A campfire snack will be served.
There is a fee of $5 per person for a Family Learn to Fish program from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Twin Lakes. Space is limited to 50 participants, who will learn how to cast, tie knots and use different types of bait and hooks before getting in paddle boats to try their luck fishing on the park’s lower lake.
Bait and some fishing equipment will be provided, but those attending may bring their own rod and supplies. A light lunch is included.
Advance registration is required for both programs. Visit co.westmoreland.pa.us/1002/Summer-Environmental-Programs to sign up or for more information.
