Everson man dies after sawing injury at Latrobe workplace
An Everson man died in a Pittsburgh hospital Friday after being injured while working with a table saw at a Latrobe company.
Eugene Martinosky, 62, was taken to UPMC, where he died Friday, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of death has not been released.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident at Latrobe Pattern Company, 523 Lloyd Ave. According to a spokeswoman for the agency, Martinosky was cutting a piece of board that “kicked back” and struck him in the abdomen. She said the company has no history of violations with OSHA.
A call to Latrobe Pattern was referred to K Castings, a related company that shares the same address. A message left at K Castings seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned.
According to the companies’ joint website, Latrobe Pattern, founded in 1952, engineers wood, plastic and metal patterns to be cast in a foundry.
According to his obituary, Martinosky is survived by his wife, two children and three grandchildren. Frank Kapr Funeral Home of Scottdale is in charge of arrangements, including visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday and a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
