Area restaurants and organizations are set to compete in Ligonier’s 11th annual Soup’s On! event this month.

The event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20. It allows people to sample soups from various organizations while exploring stores in downtown Ligonier. Because of the covid-19 pandemic, the event will take place outdoors, with booths around the Diamond.

This year, participating organizations include:

• Carol & Dave’s Roadhouse — San Marzano Tomato

• Connections Café — Spicy Corn Chowder

• Darlington Inn — Beef Vegetable Transylvania Style

• Diamond Café — Creamy Pepper Jack Broccoli with Bacon

• Eastern Westmoreland Career & Technology Center — Smoked Tomato with Mac and Cheese Crouton and Chicken Pot Pie Soup

• El Vaquero Mexicano Restaurant — Chicken Poblano & White Bean

• Foggy Mountain Lodge & Restaurant — Duck Dumpling

• Green Gables — Lemon Artichoke

• Ligonier Country Club — Black Bean

• Ligonier Giant Eagle — Stuffed Pepper and Wedding Soup

• Ligonier Tavern & Table — Chipotle Pulled Chicken with Black Beans

• Pop’s Pub & Grub Inn — Chicken Corn

• Sharky’s/The Pier — Loaded Pierogi

• The Gray Goose — Cauliflower Cheese

• The Kitchen on Main — Pork and Bean

• The Road Toad — Jes Beef Barley

Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite soup, naming one restaurant or organization The Best Soup in Ligonier.

The 2020 Soup’s On! event was postponed and eventually canceled because of restrictions related to covid-19.

Tickets for this year’s event — of which only 400 will be sold — first went on sale Feb. 25. Tickets, which are $20, can be purchased by searching for Ligonier Soup’s On! at Eventbrite.com. A limited number also will be available in the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce. Tickets won’t be sold by phone or voicemail.
