A kitchen fire at a Derry Township patio home Monday evening caused between $30,000 and $40,000 in damage, a fire official said.

Bradenville Fire Chief Mark Piantine said the fire was caused by burned food in the oven of a four-unit home on Spring Crest Circle. He said the blaze was extinguished quickly, but smoke had spread through the residence and up into the attic, where it spread to the other units.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 7 p.m., Piantine said. The home’s resident was standing outside, waiting for emergency responders.

Bradenville firefighters were on the scene for about 2½ hours. They were assisted by units from Latrobe, Youngstown, Derry Borough, Lloydsville, Ligonier and Dry Ridge, Piantine said.
