One person was critically injured in a crash Wednesday morning in Salem that snarled traffic for hours at the interchange of routes 66 and 22.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:30 a.m. on Route 66 under the bridge that carries Route 22 over the highway, Forbes Road Fire Chief Bob Rosatti.
One of the drivers was freed from the wreckage and was taken to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. The second driver wasn’t hurt, Rosatti said.
State police were on scene reconstructing the crash for hours and firefighters were released around 12:30 p.m., he said. While traffic was being detoured around the interchange, firefighters were called to a second crash not far away on Route 22.
Rosatti said two people were hurt when a vehicle made a U-turn on the highway.
