County job fair slated at Westmoreland Mall
Westmoreland County is hosting a job fair next month to fill between 50 and 75 open positions at the courthouse, nursing home, jail and other government entities.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 4 at Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield.
“We’re going to have a variety of jobs for multiple departments within the county,” said Alexis Bevan, director of human resources.
Open positions include: correctional and telecommunication officers, dietary and food service workers at Westmoreland Manor, clerical positions within the courthouse, Children’s Bureau case workers and network administrators in the IT department. A nursing shortage has also created several open nursing and nursing aid jobs at Westmoreland Manor.
A full list of open positions can be found on the county’s website, co.westmoreland.pa.us. Click on jobs and then view county government jobs.
This is the second time the county is sponsoring a job fair. The first one took place in August 2019 at the former Ramada by Wyndham Greensburg Hotel and Conference Center in Hempfield. Similar to this year, that job fair featured 50 vacancies at various locations including the Manor, which competes with local hospitals for jobs.
Bevan said the event had decent participation from community members.
This is the first time the county is hosting the fair in Westmoreland Mall’s center court.
“We haven’t been able to do (the job fair) since because of the pandemic,” Bevan said. “But with the mall location I think that offers a good walkthrough area for a lot of people to be exposed to our tables and gather information if they’re interested.”
Those planning to attend the job fair are asked to bring their resumes. Interviews for some positions may be conducted during the event.
