A North Belle Vernon man was ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $200,000 bail on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.

Gabriel J. Gamble, 34, was arrested by borough police Friday on those charges and criminal use of a communication device after a week-long investigation by police Lt. Ronald VanScyoc and Westmoreland County detectives.

VanScyoc reported in court documents that an area woman made a report to a statewide child abuse hotline, ChildLine, that she had received

a pornographic text message from Gamble involving an infant victim.

VanScyoc said police were able to determine the illicit photograph and message were sent from Gamble’s phone.

Gamble’s preliminary hearing is Oct. 21.
