Cops: Man assaulted girlfriend after finding her wrapping presents for other boyfriend
A man who found his girlfriend wrapping a Christmas gift for her “other” boyfriend was arrested early Tuesday in Trafford after assaulting the woman and threatening her with a knife, police said.
Daniel W. Hill, 50, of North Huntingdon was arrested at the Cavitt Avenue apartment he was sharing with his girlfriend, Diedra L. Dibucci, also 50, who also was charged with aggravated assault in connection with an altercation that occurred at 4:06 a.m. Tuesday, borough police said.
Officer Gerald Myers said police were called to the residence for a report of a man threatening a woman with a kitchen knife. When police arrived, no one answered, so police used a crowbar to enter the residence and discovered Hill, wearing a bloody T-shirt, laying on a second-floor bedroom floor “with multiple injuries and scratches to his face and neck,” police said.
Myers said Hill told officers that Dibucci “beat me up” and reported he did not know where she was.
Police said they located Dibucci in a third-floor bedroom “with apparent injuries to her arm and face.” Police said she told them Hill attacked her.
Hill admitted to police that he struck his girlfriend in her head and arms, but claimed it was self-defense, Myers reported in court papers.
Myers said when questioned about the altercation, Dibucci reported she was wrapping Christmas presents in the first-floor dining room “and Hill became angry because she was wrapping gifts for her other boyfriend.”
A verbal argument initially ensued, then Dibucci said Hill allegedly threw a chair at her, breaking glass in a nearby cabinet, according to Myers’ criminal complaint.
“Dibucci then alleged that Hill grabbed a knife in the kitchen and (that) is when she went upstairs to call police,” he wrote.
Police said Hill, who smelled of alcohol, initially declined to stand up to be taken into custody, telling police he did not want to go to jail. Myers reported officers had to restrain Hill to put him in handcuffs.
Hill claimed to Myers that he hid the knife under the living room couch after Dibucci attempted to stab him with it.
Police said both Dibucci and Hill were evaluated by paramedics at the scene, but both declined hospital treatment.
Hill was arraigned before Harrison City District Judge Helen Kistler on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He was ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $25,000 bail.
Dibucci also was charged with aggravated assault by police.
