The Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown will offer a new, self-guided audio tour when it opens June 20.

Compass Inn Museum will reopen June 20 with a new, self-guided audio tour meant to mitigate potential covid-19 related risks.

Upon admission, guests at the Laughlintown historical site will be encouraged to follow the tour’s route through the historic 18th- and 19th-century stagecoach stop.

To begin, hours will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Sunday, with plans to expand hours during the summer.

In addition to tours, local blacksmiths will provide smithing demonstrations. An outdoor, open-fire cooking demonstration also is planned for opening weekend.

The museum will implement precautions to mitigate the risk of covid-19. These steps include sanitation stations throughout the tour, minimized touch points throughout the museum, proper ventilation of tour areas, increased cleaning routines and minimized physical interaction.

The museum asks that group sizes be limited to a maximum of eight people. Masks will be mandatory, and those not wearing a mask will be turned away.

Admission is $10, $9 for ages 62 and older, $6 for ages 6-17 and free to active military personnel.
