Communities plan Easter activities while keeping social distance
Easter egg hunts are out this year in local parks, neighbors’ yards and church grounds, but communities are finding ways to share the joy of the season while maintaining social distance.
Here’s what’s happening around the area:
Carbon-area Easter Bunny visit
The Easter Bunny will hitch a ride on a Carbon Volunteer Fire Department truck to greet residents on April 11. Tenative schedule is:
• Noon-1 p.m. — West Wind/Bonita/Denton/Conway/Swede Hill
• 1-2 p.m. — Menock Manor/Carbon/Hunter Road/Cool Valley
• 2-3 p.m. — Heather Ridge/Hempfield Manor
• 3-4 p.m. — Suburban Estates/Woodward Estates
Firemen will have prepacked candy to toss to children, with parents’ approval. They will wear required personal protective equipment and follow CDC social distance and safety guidelines.

Greensburg Easter Bunny visit
The Easter Bunny will travel through Greensburg from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 10 and 11.
City of Greensburg Recreation Department tells residents to listen for music and honking, as the Bunny cruises the streets in a white pickup truck, offering treats to kids.
Residents are asked to wave to the Bunny from their porches.

Ligonier Easter drive-in church service
Clergy from local churches will conduct a service at 10 a.m. April 12 in the Ligonier Giant Eagle parking lot.
Attendees should stay in their vehicles with the windows up. They will be instructed to tune into a local FCC-approved AM radio frequency that will broadcast the audio of the service.
Clergy members will practice social distancing as they lead worship.
The service will last about 45 minutes. No restrooms will be available.

Scottdale Easter Bunny visit
The Easter Bunny will travel through the streets on a fire truck from 2-4 p.m. April 11. There is no set route, but the Bunny will try to cover as many streets as possible.
Residents are asked to maintain social distance by staying on their porches and away from the curb as the truck passes by.

West Point and Wendover Easter egg hunt
Residents of the Hempfield neighborhoods are invited to create large eggs to place in their windows.
“Paint it, color it, be creative,” says a Facebook post.
Families are invited to tour the neighborhoods by vehicle or on foot from April 10-12 to hunt for the eggs.

Rostraver Easter Bunny visit
The Easter Bunny will make a tour through the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company response area beginning at 1 p.m. April 11.
Fire company personnel will try to make sure the Bunny travels every street in its Rostraver coverage zone.
