A Jeannette City school board member was fined $500 for violating the state Ethics Act, the Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission said.

Mark Gogolsky violated the state’s Ethics Act when he filed deficient statements of financial interests between 2016 and 2020 by failing to disclose all reportable sources of income, according to an ethics commission report.

Gogolsky also failed to list the City of Jeannette and Penn Borough as sources of income, according to the report.

The commission found there was insufficient evidence to support another allegation that Gogolsky used the authority of his position for monetary gain when an early retirement incentive benefit was paid to his wife, a former employee of the district, according to the report.

The inquiry into Gogolsky’s actions started in 2021.

A school board member since 1993 and president during 2019-20, Gogolsky was levied fines totaling $500, or $100 for each of the five years the deficient financial statements were filed.

Gogolsky could not be reached for comment.
