Classic 'Guys and Dolls' takes to Geyer stage
It’s a safe bet that Geyer Performing Arts Center’s upcoming production of “Guys and Dolls” Sept. 12-15 will be filled with some classic favorite Broadway tunes.
Frank Loesser’s upbeat score including “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat,” “Luck Be a Lady” and “A Bushel and a Peck” is part of the fun of this musical romantic comedy that brings together a high-rolling gambler and a puritanical missionary – a showgirl dreaming of the straight-and-narrow and a craps game manager that’s just the opposite.
Set in Manhattan and based on Damon Runyon’s short stories, “Guys and Dolls” focuses on con man Nathan Detroit’s (Shawn Conway) efforts to find new life for his illegal, but notorious, crap game. Ben Wren is directing the musical.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12-14 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the theater located at 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. All tickets are $15.
