Smail’s Autobody and Collision Center in Hempfield Township could be expanding.

Plans presented to the township’s planning commission Wednesday show a 6,125-square-foot expansion to the center, including additional service bays and new asphalt paving. Located behind Smail’s Acura and Honda dealerships along Route 30, the center offers repairs to all makes and models of vehicles.

Plans will be reviewed during next month’s planning meeting.

Hempfield supervisors approved plans last month for a zoning change for two properties along Old Route 30 — 305 and 293 Old Route 30. The properties are located on the opposite side of Route 30 from Smail’s Acura and Honda dealerships.

Online records show the properties are owned by LMJ Partners LP, which also owns land adjacent to the two properties.

Supervisors approved the change from suburban residential to regional commercial, which “would be in anticipation of a potential consolidation/site plan in the future,” Patrick Karnash, planning coordinator, said in an email.

Further plans for the property were not immediately available.
