Broadway veterans sign on for Saint Vincent Summer Theatre holiday revue
Saint Vincent Summer Theatre will celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with “Celebrate the Season: A Christmas Show.”
Four professional artists — including Broadway veterans and a winner of “The Great Race” — will be on stage, along with Greggory Brandt, SVST producing artistic director. They will be joined by an ensemble of eight Saint Vincent performing arts students.
The holiday musical revue is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 and 2 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Saint Vincent College Performing Arts Center on the Unity campus.
“We did a ‘Home for the Holidays’ show three years ago, and it was a huge success,” Brandt said. “People love Christmas, and what better way to kickstart the summer theater?”
Along with seasonal favorite selections and Broadway hits, Brandt said, the program will include teasers for the return of live summer theater in 2022. SVST canceled 2020 and 2021 productions because of the pandemic.
The performers will be accompanied by a trio led by music director Eric Barchiesi on piano, along with bass and drums.
“We are so very grateful for our loyal patrons,” Brandt said. “Join us and share your support and enthusiasm in the Christmas season.”
Reuniting on the Saint Vincent stage with his father will be Eddy Brandt, an SVST veteran who appeared in the Broadway revival of “Annie Get Your Gun,” the national tour of “Les Miserables” and as a main stage performer for Disney Cruise Lines. Currently based in New York City, he also is a music producer, composer and arranger.
Other featured performers include:
• Nick Spangler, who was in the original Broadway casts of “The Book of Mormon,” “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” “It Shoulda Been You” and “Tootsie,” and in the first national tour of “An American in Paris.” In 2008, he and his sister, Emily Spangler, won Season 13 of “The Amazing Race” on CBS.
• Emily Croft, a veteran of Disney Cruise Lines main stage, the “Rock of Ages 10th Anniversary National Tour” and numerous virtual and live concert performances.
• Ashley Mortensen, who was a cast member of “Les Miserables” on Broadway and in the national tour. She also was part of the “Wicked” national tour.
Tickets for the Christmas revue are $25, or $20 for children 12 and younger. To purchase, call 724-805-2177 or visit stvincent.edu/summertheatre.
Saint Vincent employees and students will receive a $10 discount on the first four tickets purchased. Those tickets must be purchased through the Saint Vincent Event and Conference Services office at 724-532-5030.
Attendees will be required to follow all covid-19 mitigation strategies set forth in the Saint Vincent Health and Safety Plan. Current requirements include wearing a mask at all indoor events. Updates are posted at stvincent.edu.
