Bon Journey to headline Norwin Relay for Life event
“Don’t Stop Believin’” will help ring in the first fundraiser of 2019 for the annual Relay for Life of Norwin.
On Feb.1, Bon Journey, a Bon Jovi and Journey tribute band, will take the stage at Antonelli’s Event Center in Irwin, raising money for the fight against cancer.
Safety Last, and alternative rock/pop band that plays music from all decades, will start the gig. Throughout the event, which starts at 7 p.m., 50/50 raffles will be sold, along with Chinese auctions, refreshments and food.
Proceeds from the benefit concert will go toward the June 1 relay. Held at the Norwin stadium, 251 McMahon Road, team members take turns walking around the track, always having at least one person walking to signify that cancer never sleeps.
“Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night, neither do we,” the website reads.
As a 24-hour event, teams set up a themed campsite and collect donations for food, games and activities.
So far this year, more than $3,200 has been raised toward the $100,000 goal.
Teams can sign up on the American Cancer Society website.
Tickets for the benefit concert cost $12 and can be purchased online or by emailing purplefighter@comcast.net. Tickets will also be available at the door.
All ages are invited to attend the show.
