A bomb threat prompted temporary closure of the Saint Vincent College campus Monday evening.

College officials said the campus was cleared to reopen just before 10 p.m., after state police determined the threat wasn’t credible.

At about 7:30 p.m., officials were notified of a threat involving the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica, according to a statement from the college. State police said the threat came by email.

The basilica was evacuated, along with the parish center and Aurelius and Wimmer halls, and the campus was temporarily closed. Aurelius and Wimmer are residence halls. Troopers said bomb detection dogs did not find any evidence of a bomb or explosives in the buildings.

“There are a very small number of students and staff living on campus this summer in the residence halls,” according to college officials. “Anyone in the buildings that were evacuated were moved to a safe location at the onset of the threat.”

Officials didn’t elaborate on what was occurring on campus at the time.
