Vanessa Collier, who is on her “Honey Up” tour based on her latest album release, will perform at the Greensburg concert SummerSounds July 26 at 7 p.m.

A blues singer and saxophonist will make SummerSounds a stop on her months-long tour that includes shows in Switzerland and several cities across the United States.

Vanessa Collier, who is on her “Honey Up” tour, will perform 7 p.m. Friday at Greensburg’s St. Clair Park.

With three albums out, the Maryland resident won contemporary blues female artist of the year in 2018 and horn player of the year in 2017 and 2018. She won first place for lyrics in the International Songwriting Competition and best of 2014 Blues Breaker on Dan Aykroyd’s BluesMobile and was nominated for the Blues Blast Award and the Jamming-est Pro Award given by the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise.

A 2013 graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Collier has toured nationally and internationally, releasing her first album “Heart, Soul & Saxophone” in 2014, followed by “Meeting My Shadow” in 2017.

Collier uses funk, soul, rock and blues throughout her performances.

“I am driven to do this because I find it a total form of expression and connection,” Collier said in a statement. “I love connecting with an audience and feeling their energy and I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams and passions, to find what brings them joy, and then to pursue it doggedly.”

SummerSounds, currently celebrating its 20th year, brings free concerts to Greensburg every Friday from June to August.

The first year the concerts took place there were six bands and about 1,000 total attendees. Now, SummerSounds draws tens of thousands to St. Clair Park every year to watch more than a dozen acts.
