Blairsville carjacking suspect extradited from Georgia ahead of preliminary hearing
Michael Aaron Whitfield, who was charged with attempted homicide in a July attack on a woman, has been extradited from Georgia, Pennsylvania state police said Friday.
Whitfield, 36, of Greensburg, was accused of cutting a woman in the face and neck during a Blairsville carjacking July 12.
He was arrested in Georgia in July after authorities found him there.
He was arraigned beforeDistrict Judge Guy Haberl and is being held in the Indiana County Jail without bond.
Whitfield is charged with felony counts of criminal attempt — kidnapping of a minor, robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.
The charges stem from an investigation into an incident on July 12 in Blairsville, Indiana County.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 11.
