You can spot Bigfoot in Murrysville this weekend.
But it’s not the mythical forest ape — this Bigfoot is the kind that crushes cars, which is exactly what it will be doing July 9 at Export Tire’s customer appreciation event.
“We’d done the same thing when we had our grand opening six years ago,” said Export Tire manager Jonathan Weimer. “We thought this would be a great way to give back to our customers.”
In the field below the business on Old William Penn Highway, a full day of festivities will kick off at 11 a.m.
“We’ll have games with prizes and face painting for kids, food trucks and more,” Weimer said.
Food trucks from Kona Ice, Gyros N’at and the Big Black Grill will be on-site starting at 11 a.m.
Export Tire officials also are preparing cars to be crushed, which means finding donations and purchasing old junkers.
“All of the glass has to be removed, and all of the fluids are drained from the cars,” Weimer said.
The car crush will begin at 2:30 p.m. July 9. There will be door prize drawings for a Traeger grill with a Bardine’s Country Smokehouse gift card, Pirate tickets, Yeti coolers, a flat-screen TV and remote-controlled car, and WHJB’s “Lora on the Road Show” will be there with its prize wheel.
On July 8, families will have a chance to see the legendary monster truck up close from 4 to 6 p.m., when it will be parked at Export Tire, 6155 Old William Penn Highway, in Murrysville. The Kona Ice truck also will be on hand.
Weimer said he is looking forward to the celebration.
“It’s great interacting with our customers, touching base with new clients and talking with people who come down,” he said.
