Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region is headed outdoors for this year’s annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraising event.
Outdoor bowling, food, music and a corn hole tournament will be among the featured activities at the event, set for 1 to 4 p.m. July 26 at Pavilion No. 6 in Twin Lakes Park east of Greensburg.
While the fundraiser has been adapted as a “backyard” event amid social distancing guidelines, participants who meet minimum donation goals still will have the opportunity to bowl some frames on local lanes.
A minimum fundraising contribution of $30, for those age 22 or younger, or $60, for older participants, includes attendance at the event, a T-shirt and a voucher for up to three games at Hillview Bowling Lanes, with shoe and ball rental included.
Prizes will be awarded for higher fundraising totals.
According to Big Brothers Big Sisters, individual participants typically raise between $200 and $1,000 through Bowl For Kids’ Sake. Participants also can sign up as teams, which are encouraged to raise at least $500, with a goal of $1,000.

Funds raised through the event support Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission of matching area children with mentors. Based in Greensburg, the organization’s Laurel Region chapter reported on its Facebook page that it recently completed three such matches.
The chapter annually serves about 300 children in Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
