AMC Theatres creating 'distance' in movies; full house now to be 'half full'
AMC Theatres, which owns the theaters behind the Westmoreland Mall near Greensburg and the Waterfront in Homestead, is encouraging “social distancing” in its movie theaters because of the coronavirus, by making sure its screenings are only half-full at most.
Ticket sales in movie auditoriums nationwide will be capped at one-half of capacity, until April 30, AMC CEO Adam Aron said in a statement Friday.
For the larger auditoriums with more than 500 seats, AMC said it will cap the ticket sales at 250.
In addition to reducing ticket sales, AMC said it will be thoroughly cleaning every auditorium between each showing. High touch points, such as kiosks, countertops, restrooms, glass and doorknobs, will be cleaned at least once an hour.
Any customer not feeling well should stay home, AMC asked.
