Two young sisters from Acme will compete for state Miss Agriculture USA Queen titles.
Brystoll Ament, 8, a second-grader at Donegal Elementary School, recently was named the 2019 Westmoreland County Miss Agriculture USA Queen in the petite division, and her sister, Maci Ament, 1, was named the 2019 Westmoreland County Miss Agriculture USA Queen in the baby division. They will compete for the state title in their age divisions on March 30 at the Huntingdon Area School District in Huntingdon.
“They hope to promote agriculture and educate the community throughout their reign,” said their mother, Samantha Ament. “During this crucial time, when the agriculture industry is hurting so bad, farmers in our region need any extra inspiration they can get.”
Brystoll and Maci live on a small family farm and show dairy cattle, market lambs and market goats. In addition to taking care of the dogs, cats, chickens and rabbits on their farm, they often help on their uncle’s dairy farm, Lone-Ayr Farms in Derry Township.
“My girls are extremely involved in the 4-H activities in our county, as well as many livestock projects in the area,” Samantha Ament said.
Founded in 2018, Miss Agriculture USA is a nonprofit organization that promotes agriculture through queen competitions that stress education and service.
