Westmoreland Performing Arts Home and Cyber School Theatre Group members rehearse for their May 12-13 production of “The World According to Snoopy.”

Back to the beach

Award-winning playwright Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical play, “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Geyer Performing Arts Center, 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale.

The story follows Eugene Jerome, a young teen growing up in 1937 Brooklyn, as he learns about girls, family, relationships and the impending war. Eugene makes witty observations about life and family as he interacts with his quirky Polish-Jewish relatives.

A ticket is $16 at 724-887-0887 or geyerpac.com.

Snoopy and friends

Westmoreland Performing Arts Home/Cyber School Students will present “The World According to Snoopy” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.

Based on the classic “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, the production is an updated version of the musical “Snoopy!!!” The familiar characters sing, dance and share their unique outlook on the world.

The cast includes 17 homeschool students ages 9-16 from the Westmoreland County area who have been meeting once a week since January.

Tickets are $15, or $10 for ages 18 and younger, available at 724-672-3322 or westmorelandperformingarts.com.

Art on tap

“Off to the Races” is the theme of the Art on Tap 2.0 happy hour set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.

The Kentucky Derby-inspired evening will feature horseshoes, mint julep bar and West Overton Distilling whisky tasting, light bites, pony-themed scavenger hunt and music by The LangWelZ acoustic duo. Guests are encouraged to wear fancy hats for a chance to win a prize.

Admission to the 21-and-older event is $15, or $12 for members, and includes one drink ticket. To reserve, call 888-718-4253 or visit thewestmoreland.org.

Bingo for babies

The Pennsylvania Diaper Bank will host the third annual Bingo for Babies at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Youngwood Fire Hall, 104 S. 2nd St.

Doors open at 3:30 p.m., with dinner served at 4 p.m.

The event will include 22 rounds of bingo, some with special Mother’s Day prizes, along with quickies, specials, 50-50 and basket raffles, pull tickets and mystery box.

Proceeds will support the organization’s efforts to serve families in crisis with basic needs including diapers, period products and incontinence supplies.

Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. For information or reservations, visit wpadiaperbank.org.

50 years of sales

Gates will open at 7:30 a.m. Sunday for the first antiques and collectibles sale of the 50th season at Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfied.

The market continues through early afternoon, although some vendors are set up by 1 p.m. Saturday and sell that afternoon.

More than 100 vendors will offer a variety of one-of-a-kind items covering a wide price range. Native plants also will be available from the Brandywine Conservancy’s Penguin Court in Ligonier Township.

Admission of $3 per car supports Westmoreland Historical Society’s education and preservation projects at the site. For information, call 724-836-1800 or visit westmorelandhistory.org.
