Final recital

The Friday Evening Music Club of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will present its season-finale recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Campana Chapel at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 150 Finoli Drive, Hempfield.

The program will include Roger Cazden on flute with Josie Merlino on piano playing works by Bach and Rodrigo, along with flautists Nina Edgar and Hazel Braun presenting the Hindemith Flute Sonata.

Admission is free to club members and by donations for others. A reception will follow the recital.

Pittsburgh pundit

Pittsburgh comedian Jim Krenn takes the stage at 8 p.m. Friday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

The longtime local radio personality has shared stages with comedy greats including Jay Leno, Howie Mandel, Dennis Miller, Jerry Seinfeld and Tim Allen. His stand-up routines include impressions, characters and anecdotes including takes on fellow Pittsburgh personalities.

A ticket is $30 at the door, or $25 in advance at 724-367-4000 or lamptheatre.org.

Big-time entertainment

Two big shows are on the weekend schedule at The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg:

• The Wallflowers, 8 p.m. Friday — Fronted by Jakob Dylan, son of legendary troubadour Bob Dylan, The Wallflowers hit the roots rock scene in the late 1990s with hits like the Grammy Award-winning “One Headlight” and “Three Marlenas.” Their latest studio album is “Exit Wounds” from 2021.

Tickets are $49.75-$59.75.

• Cirque International, 7:30 p.m. Saturday — The show promises a mesmerizing evening of entertainment by an international line-up of some of the world’s finest acrobats, gymnasts and aerial artists.

Tickets are $29-$59.

Car cruise

Antiques, classics, muscle cars and more will take over the streets of downtown Irwin from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday for the 31st annual car cruise hosted by the Irwin Business & Professional Association.

Billed as one of Pennsylvania’s largest cruises, the event is expected to draw upward of 350 vehicles and will feature food and oldies music by DJ Daddy G.

Admission is free to spectators and $10 for vehicle owners. For information, visit downtownirwin.com.

Top dogs

Youngwood Dog Club will host a Top Dog Pageant at 3 p.m. Saturday at The Old Spitfire Grille, 1517 Broad St., South Greensburg.

Pooches can vie for prizes in three categories: cutest dog, best dressed/best costume and sweetest senior (10 years and older). First through third place winners in each category will receive a package including cash, gift cards and flowers.

A doggy menu will be available, along with basket raffle, 50/50 drawing and vendor tables.
