Arts and crafts
The 29th annual Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts Labor Day Festival takes place Friday through Monday at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Mt. Pleasant Township.
More than 200 exhibitors from 14 states will be present, selling jewelry, embellished clothing, home and seasonal decor, floral arrangements, candles, lotions and soaps, pet treats and accessories and food and drink items.
The festival will also feature food booths, live music and children’s activities including a petting zoo, barrel train rides, fishing pond game and face-painting with clowns Glitter Dot and Dapper.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Monday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
Admission is $6.50, $6 for ages 65 and older, $3 for ages 12-15. Tickets are available at the gate or online at familyfestivals.com.
Fred Rogers fine art
The 12th Annual Mister Fred Rogers Fine Arts Juried Exhibition is running through Sept. 30 at Latrobe Art Center, 819 Ligonier St. The exhibition features 75 pieces by almost 50 artists, chosen by judge and juror Susanne Slavick, an artist, curator and Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University.
A reception is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 8, with beverages and light appetizers. Awards will be announced, including the Ned J. Nakles Award for Excellence in Oil/Acrylic, Mister Fred Rogers Award of Distinction and Best in Show.
Featured artists have the opportunity to be chosen by Greater Latrobe School District students to have their work permanently displayed in the district’s Special Arts Collection, a program designed to expose students to original art.

So long, SummerSounds
The Sea The Sea, an indie folk-pop duo from upstate New York, will be featured at the SummerSounds season finale, at 7 p.m. Friday in St. Clair Park in downtown Greensburg.
The pair’s 2020 release and third full-length album, “Stumbling Home,” was dubbed “otherworldly” by “Rolling Stone.” They’ve also garnered praise from Buzzfeed, Huffington Post and Pitchfork and have more than 20 million streams to date on Spotify.
Cathy Jane will provide pre-show music from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.

Royal treatment
Children ages 12 and under are guests of honor this weekend at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival, entering free with a paid adult admission. The child’s ticket can be picked up at the festival box office.
Special activities Saturday through Monday include prince, princess and pirate costume contests; the Royal Quest; knighting ceremonies, and photos with the king and queen. The medieval merriment also includes rides, games of skill, food, costumed characters, arts and crafts demonstrations, a marketplace, jousting and entertainment.
It is also union and labor appreciation weekend. Union members can purchase buy one, get one free tickets at the festival box office; their children 12 and under may enter free.
Festival hours are 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Sept. 25 and Labor Day, at the festival grounds at 112 Renaissance Lane, South Huntingdon. Adult tickets are $15, available at pittsburghrenfest.com.
Color me fabulous
Artist-in-Residence Janel Young will lead a coloring book party from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.
The all-ages session will feature Young’s self-illustrated “Color Your Crown: A Natural Hair Coloring Book,” which she created to encourage positivity for women and girls of color about their natural hair. The participant with the best coloring page will win a copy of “Color Your Crown.”
