Mountain tale

“Bright Star,” a musical with a Tony Award-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Geyer Performing Arts Center, Pittsburgh St., Scottdale.

Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in the 1940s, with flashbacks to 1923, the story was inspired by the creators’ Grammy-winning bluegrass album “Love Has Come for You” and the story of the Iron Mountain Baby, an infant found along a Missouri railroad track in 1902.

The production is presented by Associated Artists of Fayette County. A ticket is $15.
