Rockin’ out

The Lamp Theatre in Irwin will be rocking hard this weekend with two classic rock tribute shows.

Broken Arrow: A Tribute to Neil Young kicks it off at 8 p.m. Friday, playing the rock legend’s softer country rock material and the hard-edge Crazy Horse-era electric tunes — offering faithful arrangements, tweaks and longer jams. A ticket is $30.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, make way for The British Invasion Years, a nostalgic musical retrospective covering The Beatles and other iconic groups from across the pond, including The Zombies, Dave Clark Five, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies, Herman’s Hermits and Gerry and the Pacemakers. A ticket is $28.

For tickets and more information, call 724-367-4000 or visit lamptheatre.org.

Off the Wall

The annual “Off the Wall” art show and sale begins with a reception from noon-6 p.m. Saturday at You Are Here art space at 406 Clay Ave., Jeannette. Light refreshments will be available.

The show features handmade items from more than 15 local artists, including painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts and more.

The show continues during regular gallery hours until the “last-minute shopping party” Dec. 18. You Are Here is open noon-4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon-6 p.m. Saturdays (closed on Thanksgiving Day).

Step back in time

Harvest Candlelight Tours are planned for 3-7 p.m. Saturday at Compass Inn Museum, along Route 30 in Laughlintown.

Flickering candles will light the way as docents lead guests through every room of the early 19th-century stagecoach stop. The tour includes a look at historic food preparation methods in the cookhouse.

Tours begin every half hour, with each limited to eight guests. Reservations are strongly recommended, but not required. A ticket is $12, $11 for age 62 and older, $8 for ages 6-17.

For information and reservations, visit compassinn.org.

Shining a light

Westmoreland Symphonic Winds will present “Through Darkness Comes Light,” its first full-ensemble concert since the start of the pandemic, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center in downtown Greensburg.

The program includes “Early Light,” by Carolyn Bremer; “Pageant, Op. 59,” by Vincent Persichetti; “Sleep,” by Eric Whitacre; “Gumsuckers March,” by Percy Grainger; “Variations on a Korean Folk Song,” by John Barnes Chance; “O Magnum Mysterium,” by Morten Lauridsen; and “Night on Fire,” by John Mackey.

A ticket is $7, $6 for seniors, $5 for students with non-Seton Hill ID. Tickets are available at the door or by calling the box office from 2-6 p.m. Friday at 724-552-2929.

For information, visit seton hill.edu.

Holiday shopping

The Greensburg Holiday Market will be set up from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday on South Pennsylvania Avenue behind the Westmoreland County Courthouse.

Featured vendors will include food purveyors, wineries and distilleries, along with makers of arts and crafts, pet products, home decor, soaps, candles, curios and more.

The season’s final sale is scheduled for Dec. 19.

The market is organized by Downtown Greensburg Project. For information, visit downtowngreensburgpa.us.
