Owl encounter

You’ve heard of howling at the moon, but what about “Owling at the Moon”? That’s what will happen from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Powdermill Nature Reserve, 1795 Route 381, Cook Township.

Visitors of all ages are invited to the reserve to sip cider and hear stories around a campfire. Staff members will even try to catch an owl.

Children 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Masks are required inside the nature center.

Preregistration is requested, but not required, at carnegiemnh.org for the pay-what-you-wish program.

Bingo bash

Miss Thea’s Drag Queen Bingo will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at The Lamplighter, 6566 Route 22, Salem. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The annual fundraising event for Apple Hill Players will include a basket raffle and 50/50.

Tribune-Review The Clarks will play a Nov. 13 benefit concert for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.  

For the kids

The Clarks will hit the stage of The Palace Theatre in Greensburg at 7 p.m. Saturday for the annual benefit concert for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region.

The homegrown Western Pennsylvania favorite band is known for songs like “Better Off Without You,” “Cigarette,” “Born Too Late,” ”Shimmy Low” and other regional and national hits. Opening act will be local country rocker Michael Christopher.

Sing a song

Limber up your vocal chords for karaoke to benefit Pet Friends Inc., beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at Greenhouse Winery, Gracin Lane, Sewickley Township.

The 21-and-older fundraiser for the Irwin-based pet rescue organization also will feature a basket auction, 50/50 and food from Junebugs.

Giving thanks

Alabaster Performing Arts will present a gratitude-themed Thanksgiving concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Bruno Church, 1715 Poplar St., South Greensburg.

Singers Mary McCormack, Ann Marie Lewis and Jessie Glover will perform uplifting songs including “Wind Beneath My Wings,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” “Home For the Holidays,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Proud To Be An American” and others.

Audience members can write messages of thanks to tape to a “Gratitude Wall” near the stage. Alabaster also will collect monetary donations to buy socks, some of which will go to homeless people in Pittsburgh and others to the Welcome Home Shelter in Greensburg.
