Stage Right! Greensburg will stage “All Shook Up School Edition” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

Inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, the musical follows a guitar-playing young man as he shakes up life in a square little town in 1955. Featured songs include “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

Musical memories

Turn back the musical clock this weekend with these classic acts coming to The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg:

• Happy Together Tour 2022, 8 p.m. Friday — Now in its 13th year, the tour features The Turtles, The Association, The Grass Roots, The Box Tops, Classics IV and The Cowsills playing their chart-topping hits from the 1960s and ’70s. Tickets are $49.75-$75.75.

• The Glenn Miller Orchestra, 7 p.m. Saturday — The 18-member ensemble plays original Miller arrangements dating to the Swing Era of the 1930s and ’40s, along with more modern selections arranged and performed in the Miller style. Vocalist Nick Hilscher leads the band. Tickets are $20-$59.

Military timeline

Westmoreland Historical Society will host a Military Timeline Weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Historic Hanna’s Town in Hempfield. The new event will explore a timeline of American military history from the French and Indian War to modern times.

Features will include reenactment units portraying the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War; Civil War cannon and mortar fire demonstrations; and World War II battle reenactment; along with displays of Civil War memorabilia; World War II weapons, munitions and field gear collections; and a firsthand photographic account of the Vietnam War.

Attendees also can view “Penn’s Woods: Plenty for the Use of Man,” an exhibit highlighting the local and regional history of woodworking and carpentry, in the Westmoreland History Education Center on site.

Admission for the weekend, payable in cash at the gate, is $10 for adults, $5 for children, free for ages 5 and under.

An outdoor band concert featuring hits of the 1940s is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday. Attendees are invited to come in period clothing and to bring their own seating. Admission is $10 per person, cash only.

Summertime fun

Jeannette Summerfest is planned for noon to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Magee Avenue parking lot downtown. The event will feature food, bingo, craft vendors, games, raffles, dunk tank, face-painting and children’s arts and crafts.

Entertainment schedule includes Angel Blue and The Prophets Band, noon; Wild World of Animals, 2 p.m.; water balloon contest, 3 p.m.; Full Tilt Band, 4 p.m.; children’s talent show, 6 p.m.; “America’s Got Talent” contestant Aubrey Burchell with guitarist Noah Myers, 7:30 p.m.; and Flow N’At Fire Show, 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will follow.

Sunday evening sounds

Community Band South will play at 7 p.m. Sunday on the Ligonier Diamond as part of the summer Sunday Evening Band Concert series hosted by Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Band members include instrumentalists from communities in Pittsburgh’s South Hills. The ensemble plays at schools, churches and community events around the region.

In case of inclement weather, the program moves to the Ligonier Town Hall auditorium. Donations are taken to support the series, which continues weekly through Aug. 21.
