5 things to do in Westmoreland County: Jan. 21-23
Boogie (some) more
Southern rock fans, don’t flirt with disaster by missing Molly Hatchet at 7 p.m. Friday at The Lamp Theatre in Irwin.
Formed in Florida in 1971, the band had its heyday in the late 1970s and early 1980s, releasing the platinum-selling hit records, “Molly Hatchet” in 1978, “Flirtin’ with Disaster” in 1979 and “Beatin’ the Odds” in 1980.
The band has undergone numerous personnel changes in its 50-year history. Though none of the original lineup remains, some current members have been around since the 1989 “Lightning Strikes” album.
Special guests will be Six Gun Sally, a seven-member group that plays original music and hits from classic rockers like Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac.
A ticket is $45 at 724-367-4000 or lamptheatre.org.
Owl be seeing you
Whoooo knows what you’ll find during a winter stroll after dark? Westmoreland Conservancy members will set out at 8 p.m. Friday from the Universal Pedestrian Trailhead at the end of Morosini Farm Road in Murrysville on an Owl Prowl.
The last stop of the walk will be near the lower parking lot of the Morosini Reserve, so it is suggested that walkers park there and walk up the road to the Upper Trailhead.
Participation is free. To register, visit westmorelandconservancy.org.
