2 incumbents, 2 newcomers to battle for Hempfield supervisor seats

Two newcomers are fighting for a spot on Hempfield’s Board of Supervisors and are set to face two incumbents in the general election.

Scott Graham and Daniel Kremer, both Democrats, will compete against Republican incumbents Tom Logan and Doug Weimer in November.

“I feel very good,” said Graham, who received over 52% of the votes in Tuesday’s primary election. “To come out with a large number of votes was nice to see. We’re going to be ready for a brawl here in the fall.”

Kremer received 45% of votes. Neither Graham, who is running on a platform of transparency and accountability, nor Kremer, who wants to improve public safety and infrastructure, have run for public office in the past.

Weimer, who previously served as secretary, chairman and treasurer on the board, and Logan, who is board treasurer, ran a joint campaign, a nod to their years of working together, Weimer said.

“I think that Tom Logan and I ran a positive race around a proven record about not raising taxes and our accomplishments of serving the residents of Hempfield Township,” said Weimer, who received over 32% of the votes. “I truly enjoy serving my community and look forward to the months ahead of the fall election and continuing to meet residents and represent them on the board of supervisors.”

Logan, who received over 27% of votes, said he is looking forward to the general election and serving Hempfield residents.

Logan and Weimer beat Republican candidates Jerry Fagert, who received 13% of votes, and Dan Galbraith, who received over 26% of votes.
