Some lucky winners will take home prizes Saturday during a huge egg hunt for adults and children at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds.

There will be 10,000 plastic eggs up for grabs, some of which have prize-winning golden tickets tucked inside.

“We have an egg team and we will be putting them all out,” said Heather J. McLean, outreach coordinator with Mental Health America of Southwestern PA.

The 2022 Spring Spectacular Community Festival will feature vendors, photo opportunities, face painting, food trucks and other activities through a partnership between Westmoreland County Behavioral Health/Developmental Services and Ray of Hope, a suicide awareness and prevention task force.

It’s the first time for the event which has garnered a lot of support from local businesses and human service organizations, said McLean, who is chairwoman for Ray of Hope. There will be 60 vendors to provide information to attendees and more than 200 prizes for egg hunters who come away with golden tickets, as well as dozens more prizes for those participating in other games.

“This was a great way to bring the community together to hear about all of the resources,” she said. “We wanted to provide as much things at no cost for anyone who wanted to come.”

Eggs that don’t contain golden tickets will have a small toy or candy for its finder. Golden ticket prizes include bicycles, games, gift cards and Legos. The egg hunt will be in sections based on age and ability.

Admission is free and the event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Vendors will be in a building at the fairgrounds and the egg hunt outside. Saturday’s forecast is a high of 52 degrees and mostly sunny.
