A Florida man was taken to a Pittsburgh trauma center after the truck he was driving overturned Saturday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Donegal, according to state police.
Police said speed was a factor when Courtney Mills, 26, of Orlando, lost control of his westbound truck at 2:30 p.m. just west of Route 381 in Cook Township.
He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian with a suspected serious injury, police said. Details of his condition weren’t available.
Police said Mills lost control on a right curve, and the truck crashed into a guide rail, striking 50 posts and multiple signs. The truck flipped completely over, landing on its tires, and was towed from the scene, police said.
Firefighters set up a landing zone for a helicopter that flew Mills to the hospital, according to Chestnut Ridge Fire Chief Shawn Kestner.
First responders remained on the scene for about an hour, including firefighters from Ligonier and Saltlick Township.
