West Mifflin man accused of child sex crimes
A West Mifflin man is facing several charges after police say he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old child.
Dondre Kelly, 27, was arrested Thursday, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, prohibited acts, indecent exposure, indecent assault and open lewdness.
According to police, Kelly contacted the child’s mother Tuesday, saying that he wanted to take the child to a birthday party at Dave and Buster’s Arcade in Homestead.
After he picked the child up, however, Kelly took them to the South Hills Motel in Pleasant Hills instead of the arcade. Authorities said Kelly told the child not to tell their mother where they had been or what took place.
The child was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh upon returning home.
Sheriff’s deputies began searching for Kelly on Wednesday evening. After conducting hours of interviews and surveillance, deputies believed Kelly was hiding at a hotel in the Jefferson Hills area. While performing surveillance Thursday afternoon, Kelly was identified leaving a room at the Jefferson Hills Motel and getting into a vehicle.
Deputies surrounded the vehicle and arrested Kelly without incident, officials said. He was taken to the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Division.
According to court documents, Kelly is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
