A woman is in the Allegheny County Jail after being involved in a police chase that ended in a crash Thursday morning on the New Kensington Bridge.

On Friday, state police said troopers tried to stop Jasmine Christine Jackson, 34, of Arnold on Freeport Road in East Deer. Jackson was wanted from a chase with state police earlier this month in which she refused to stop.

According to court records, state police filed several summary traffic offenses and a misdemeanor count of fleeing or eluding against Jackson on Feb. 7 for an incident that happened Feb. 6 in Frazer. Her court paperwork gave her home as Brackenridge.

In court paperwork, a state trooper said he was traveling north on Route 28 in Frazer about 10:25 p.m. Feb. 6 when he saw a Ford Fusion in the right lane.

The vehicle came back showing that the registered owner’s license was suspended for DUI. After pulling alongside the car and confirming the driver was the registered owner, the trooper tried to pull over the car but the driver refused to stop and a pursuit began.

According to the complaint, the car got off Route 28 at Creighton, Exit 13. It continued south on Freeport Road before stopping before the New Kensington Bridge.

The trooper pulled alongside the driver’s side of the car to get the driver’s attention. The trooper got out of his vehicle and shouted to the driver to pull over to a parking lot, the complaint states.

The driver acknowledged the trooper but did not comply and continued across the New Kensington Bridge into Westmoreland County. After several minutes, the trooper was advised to end the pursuit because of safety concerns.

In Thursday’s chase that happened around 11 a.m., state police said Jackson’s vehicle became disabled after hitting a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus and a tractor-trailer on the New Kensington Bridge.

Jackson was arrested without incident, state police said.

The Route 1-Freeport Road bus was heading outbound on the New Kensington Bridge at the time of the crash, said Adam Brandolph, a spokesman for Pittsburgh Regional Transit.

There was no significant damage to the bus, and no one was hurt, Brandolph said.

Jackson was arraigned Thursday before Harmar District Judge David J. Sosovicka and sent to the Allegheny County Jail on $10,000 bond.

She did not have an attorney listed in court records.

Jackson’s preliminary hearing on charges from the Feb. 6 chase is scheduled for March 6 before Sosovicka.

State police said Thursday’s incident remains under investigation.
