Woman claims Apollo man threw, sexually assaulted her after she laughed at him

An Apollo man is accused of throwing and sexually assaulting a woman earlier this week.

The woman accused James Orlando Oquinn, 29, of attacking her after she laughed when he suggested she was sneaking men through a window.

The woman told Apollo police that she had taken Oquinn out for drinks at a bar Monday before the two went to her house, according to a criminal complaint.

The woman said she went to the bathroom. When she came into the living room, Oquinn told her that he heard someone laughing.

Oquinn accused the woman of sneaking guys through a window, police said.

After the woman laughed at that suggestion, Oquinn took her into a bedroom where he repeatedly threw her across the room and sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint. He continued to try to assault the woman as she tried to get away, police said.

According to Oquinn’s arrest papers, a witness confirmed the incident.

Oquinn remained in Armstrong County Jail on Wednesday after failing to post $25,000 bond.

He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge James Andring in Leechburg at 1 p.m. Feb. 13.

Oquinn faces felony charges of aggravated indecent assault, misdemeanor charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct, and a summary charge of harassment.
